Day 8

Today was my 1st official training day w/ TNT it was great. We learned about road safety & then worked on our form. We ran for 3 miles (40 minutes) it was great. There are 5 of us in the Nampa training group for the Winter Session. My friend Kyleigh (who is doing this amazing adventure with me) is training in Boise and she said they have 20. My coach was saying that we will combine a few sessions when we start the longer runs. Ann (my coach) has done several marathons and said that the 1st time she ran the entire thing & came in at 5hrs and like 20mins the next one she did the 8-2 (run for 8 minutes walk for 2) and she got in at 5 hrs and then for her next one she did 9-1 and she was 4 hours 30 min. WOW she said it was good since she kept up her pace and by mile 20 she was like I can do this run for 9 minutes and then get to walk. It is a total mind thing. I am going to try the 9-1 concept. Ann did say that if I am going to do it to start training that way now. So this week I will try it & see how far I get! I am excited about that. I can run for 9 minutes oh yea!!!! I can't wait for the next session. We have an injury prevention clinic coming this week & I am excited about that. Ann did show me some stretches for my hip and then in the clinic she told me to ask about my hip.
I did get another donation today! OH YEA I am almost over $300 yea in the 1st week!!!! I got a make shift office setup. I was tired of having everything all over my counter. It is nice. Mikayla made me a sign to reach my goal. I got all my letters copied and will continue to work on my envelopes and then get them in the mail by next week. I am on a roll. I am also brainstorming some fundraising ideas. So if ya have any ideas just say the word! :)

Day 6

What an amazing day this has been!!!!! Started the day with a good 3 mile run. Getting further w/o stopping yea only 23.2 more miles to go! YEA. Then I went & got all my supplies that I need to get my letters finished & printed out. Me being me, I got a nice carry file system I can organize w/ all my TNT info to keep it handy in order. I also got another donation today thanks Kami I so appreciate it I am almost at the $300 mark in week 1 YEA!!! LOVE IT!
Run went well. I am still having that pain in the hip but pushed thru it & did a great stretch afterwards. It wasn't too bad tonight at bootcamp. I felt it the most on the sprints so hmmmm gotta figure that one out. Tomorrow is my rest day for training! My husband commented that all I do now is workout. hahahhahhhaa I was like yup I have a 26.2 mile hurdle to get thru and I will do all the training I need to do! I have been following the Intermediate training for this week. I think I will do the same for next week & then kick it into high gear and do the advance training plan.
My good friend Jennifer recieved an email today & she found out her dad's cousin has been diagnosed with type B lymphoma, non-hodgegens, bone only. Jennifer sent me the email. So I want to add Terry's name to my list of people I am running for. My prayers go out to Terry & his family. This email today made me realize how important what I am doing is. We need to find a cure for this way too many people are affected by it everyday. So this will help me push even harder.

Day 5

Well today was my cross training day & I hit the weight room. Why oh why do I feel so silly in there at 6:30 at night?? But I did stay & did 45 minutes of legs & arms. Of course I did a 1 mile run & had my best time 8:45 oh yea!! Now just 25 more miles at that & I will make my 5 hour time in January!!! :) Tonight I am feeling it. My left hip is killing me. Not sure if it is the sprints from yesterday or the other workouts hmmmm. I can't wait for Saturday cause I will ask my coach about. It is great to have a mentor & a coach behind me.

My letter is just about done just waiting for a few things and then I will go get them printed off & I plan on having them out by the 1st week of September. I am excited still. I thought my excitement would start to die down a bit but OH NO it is all I think about. Where to get sponsors- training oh yea that is my life right now & I am LOVING it!!!!!!!! :)

Day 4

What a day not only was it 1st day of school but I helped out in school also so I had limited time BUT I did get out there cause my training schedule told me to! :) I ran 2.4 miles it was smack in the middle of the day. Not a good idea. While I was running in 90 degree weather I was thinking is this how Arizona will feel??? Is it that hot that time of year?????? hahahahahaha I did also do bootcamp w/ lots of sprints & a cool down of a brisk 1 mile walk so it was a very busy & productive day. I am continuing to get in donations which I am thrilled about THANK YOU everyone who has donated so far!!!! I still have a long journey ahead of me but I am excited & scared at the same time for it. I am working on getting a picture of David to post so I can see him everytime I log on to the blog & know that I have to keep going. I am doing this for his memory & for others like him. So if you haven't donated yet please see my link at the top left corner. We need to beat this horrible cancer!

Day 2

Today is the day I did an outline of my fundraiser. It is a short outline but it is a map to what I need to do. I have to work on it a bit more but will have it all done by tomorrow. I am the type of person that needs a plan. I am huge on calendars so putting dates on when I need to get things done is key for me! I am waiting for the link from the main office so I can start getting to my goal & you can see the $$$ move on the blog! YEA!!!!!! I am still full of excitement!
I start my official training tomorrow. The TEAM is offering a free Shoe fit Clinic so I will be prepared for my tootsies! :) After the fitting I will zoom back to Nampa to meet up w/ my Women's running group & hope to get in at least 3 miles.

Day 1

Today I have started an exciting journey! My wonderful mother thought I should blog my progress in the journey! Thanks mom.
I just went to the kickoff party & signed on with Team In Training. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Their mission statement is: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the largest voluntary health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and Hodgkin's Disease and improving the quality of life for patients and their families. This society has raised more than $550 million to research. They have 66 chapters across the United States and Canada. I am apart of the Idaho/Montana Chapter.
I am training to run a marathon (26.2 miles) in January at the P.F. Chang's Rock n Roll Marathon in Phoenix Arizona. This a HUGE for me. I started running about 2 years ago and have enjoyed the fun runs and have done a few 1/2 marathons so this is a big step for me. But now that I am running for a purpose to help fight the battle of cancer, I know I can tackle & complete the marathon. I had a dear friend that lost his battle w/ Hodkin's disease at age 21.
I will be running in memory of David Hagar.

I hope you enjoy this blog on my 4 1/2 month journey. I ask for your prayers and donations.
Feel free to give me feedback or if you know anyone who is affected w/ blood cancer I would love to add them to my page. This will help me make it through the 26 miles knowing that I am running for a much need cause. Cure for Cancer.
