Made it!!!!! Thanks to my sweet daddy, I met my goal of $3850!!! I am so blessed for my parents. They are my rock and are always there for me. I have so many things in my life that are amazing and I am so thankful. I am glad to do my part & help others. I know I am not doing much but if I can help 1 person with blood cancer's all this hardwork was well worth it. I am 3 weeks away from heading to Arizona. I can't wait.

What a fantastic night. The Be the Difference Benefit raised over $1300. WOW we had such a good time. The servers were amazing & we had every table full. A big Thank You to the Gonelli's; Loutzenhiser's; Lemke's; Father Jerry; St. Paul's Church; St. Paul's Boy Scouts; Jana; Jonny; Ryan; Missy; Tyler; Kyle; Cali & Miranda. They all worked so hard to make this such an amazing event. That puts me $800 away from my goal.

I am excited about that cause my last 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) was 2:23 so I am improving on my time. I kept a consistent pace of 10:23 per mile. Great run! YEA

Day ?

Well after having the swine flu, I had a sinus infection. UGH!!!! I am done being sick.
Saturday I went on my 1st long run w/ the combine Nampa/Boise Team. It was AMAZING 12 miles. It was soooo beautiful running as the sun was rising & seeing it over the lake WOW a great time to run. I felt amazing & only coughed a few times. But finished in 2:10. After that we had a potluck w/ honored patients. After listening to them, I know that I am on the path that God has lead me to. These people are AMAZING and they are who I am running for & why I WILL make my goal. It is the least I can do. They have fought for their lives and I have to fight for them.
So, I am planning a fundraising dinner with some AMAZING friends. Nonie, Jennifer & Lori have stepped in & are going to make this a wonderful night. Mark your calendars for those of you in the area Dec 4th in Dempsey Hall at St. Paul's church it will be a dinner & a silent auction.

Now need to focus on the fundraising. I am a bit over 20% of my goal so I need to get busy! I know that God has sent me on this path for a reason and I will make my goal. I will cross that finish line!

It was strickly for speed. It was great I actually had my dog running hard it rocked!!! :) I am back in action bring on the 8 miles tomorrow! :)

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Day 39

Well I am a bit lazy today see what happens w/ 1 day off on my training. I can barely get out of my way. So, just chillaxin. My toe is better a bit sore but nothing major. Thinking it is good to take the night off again to get that thing to completely heal.

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Day 38

Well was all excited to do some speed work tonight at the Rec Center. About 2 hours before I was up in the attic & dropping down one of those outdoor mats & yup my toe decided to stay in the way. It bleed FOREVER. I put 2 bandades on it & got ready well I couldn't get my shoe on! Seriously!!! So I had to actually watch my daughter do gymnastics & watch all the people running by me! :(
So that means no day off on Friday I will push it & do speedwork that day. Oh well.
While at the bank I was talking to my favorite teller & she noticed my LLS shirt. Her husband has CML Leukemia for 2 years now. I got his story & name that I will add to my blog. I asked her if I could run for him. She was so sweet. We had a nice chat and I am still shocked to how many this actually touches. I guess I was really frustrated about my toe cause I really wanted to push it and do this for all the people out there. But there is a reason for this & God has a plan for me. I know that I am making a difference and that I will make my goal & cross that finish line!

Monday, September 28, 2009

Day 30 & 31

Wow I missed yesterday didn't I? I tell it is that darn Twilight book that I picked up to read only during lunch! hahahahahha I should know better!
Yesterday was a great day I finished my corporate letter & got final ok from my mom! :) I did a 3 mile speed track run at the rec center & the 1st mile I did my best ever time at 7:54 oh yea after that I was right at 8:22 for the other 2 so not bad at all. I did have problems w/ my shoes tho.

Today - GREAT workout today it was my Cross train day so I went to the rec this a.m. and did my core & arm workout the trainer showed me & boy oh boy I can feel it now. Then I went back to the rec center & did 30 min. on the elliptical. It is very difficult to read while you are on that thing but I was at the baseball part my favorite! :) I did go back to Shu's Idaho Running Store & they exchanged my shoes & man oh man it is like I am wearing slippers the new shoes are amazing. The staff at Shu's is AMAZING & best thing is I got $5 back cause they were cheaper. They ended up getting me an entirely different brand & put me in 1/2 a size bigger than my normal shoe so I am a happy camper & they are pretty! :) One of the TNT members sent this out today to us. Very appropriate.

“There can only be one state of mind as you approach any profound test; total concentration, a spirit of togetherness, and strength.”

Day 29

YEA I hit over the $500 mark today!!! Thank you to those who have donated so far. I am gonna work on my corporate letter tomorrow. I have a nice list so far that I am going to contact. I have 22 companies down so far. If I can get even 1/2 of them to donate oh yea!!!!!!! They will actually all donate what am I saying!:)
Today was a beautiful day & it makes me realize how much I am blessed. My running group that meets on Monday's is a true blessing. They are helping me thru this journey & I am so grateful for them. It is funny how you never know how a person will touch you when you first meet them. Like them for instance. They are a HUGE part of my training & I never would have guessed that when I first started running with them. I have such wonderful people in my life I can't begin to tell you how lucky I am. Today we did a great 4 mile run. It was perfect out nice & cool & we had a great pace. I got my guidepost magazine today (thanks Noni) and it had this quote in it & I thought it was perfect for my life right now. I will close today w/ this quote from Hala Moddelmog, president & CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure
"There is a subtle difference between a mission and a promise. A mission is something you strive to accomplish. A promise is something you are compelled to keep. One is individual; the other is shared. When a misson and a promise are one and the same, that's when mountains are moved an races are won."

Sunday, September 20, 2009

Day 28

It was my "active" rest day so that is just what I did! :) Until tomorrow....

Saturday, September 19, 2009

Day 27

What a GREAT run this morning. Thanks Coach Ann. We did a 5 mile run & chatting w/ her made it go so easy and fast. I recieved my 1st mail in donation today! :) My sweet neighbor gave me a check! Thanks Mrs. Prescott. I am $5 shy of the $500 mark OH YEA!!!!!! I can't wait for the mail tomorrow to see what I get! hhahahahaha

Friday, September 18, 2009

Day 26

It was my rest day so that is exactly what I did. I am looking forward to trying out my new shoes & hydration belt tomorrow! :)

Day 25

Good morning. Sorry I didn't write last night my computer was acting weird. I went to an AMAZING nutrition clinic last night. Now I have been to nutritionist before for Andy (he is diabetic) but this was was specifically for running. It was great. I learned so much & can't wait to implement it into my training. It will take sometime to figure it all out but I am sure I can get it done! :) Yesterday I ran a 5 mile run it was nice. I did the 8-1 intervals and boy oh boy those are huge. I am sooo glad Coach Ann told me about those thanks a million. I was a bit tired I think I over did it on Wed. workouts but live & learn right? I finally got my new shoes from Shu's yesterday and a "hydration" belt hahahhaha I was calling it a water belt. Guess I will learn the running lingo soon enough. I can't wait to try it out on Saturday it is our 6 mile run. After emailing my mentor I have decided not to do the St. Luke's Women's Fitness next week. I kept going back and forth if I was going to do it or not. That is the day of our 7 mile run. Now I have done 1/2 marathons but I think this 7 mile will really set my tone. I am a scheduler and if I get of schedule & skip it I am afraid I won't make it up that week & come the weekend after at the 8 mile I might hit a brick wall. My focus right now is the training for the marathon & fundraising so I decided to stay focused & skip the 5k this year. I think it is the best decision for me. Today is my rest day so I will rest! =)

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Day 24

What a great day. It was my cross training day so I went this morning to the Rec Center to finish up my training program with a trainer & then back to the Rec Center for my core training & finished it off with yoga!!! It felt great! Tomorrow I will get the last of my letters out and go for a run! :)

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Had a great workout 2 mile run & 1 mile on the elliptical. Tomorrow the rest of my letters are going out! OH YEA bring in the donations I am 10% to my goal!!!!!!!

Monday, September 14, 2009

Day 22

What a beautiful day it was today. You can tell that fall is right around the corner. My favorite time of year! This fall will be a whole new meaning to me. I am meeting such amazing people in my journey from my fellow runner, the honorees, the trainers and just everyone that is touch some way by cancer. I feel so blessed & excited to be on this journey. I met with my Nampa Women's Women's Running Club tonight & they are so inspiring. I did a great 3 1/2 mile run (I am thinking it was about that distance had to turn around) Felt great & had a wonderful breeze. I need to pick up the fundraising. My letters should be going out this week so I am very excited about that. I know I am on this path for a purpose & I am very excited. I am so thankful for everyone who has donated so far.

Sunday, September 13, 2009

Day 20, 21

Saturday was my Coached training & we went for 5 miles. I ran an 8 min/1 min intervals & it was FANTASTIC!!! After the 5 miles I felt like I could do 5 more. I am excited for this interval training. It will help me mentally at mile 20 I am sure. I also was very consistent w/ my speed and they say that is HUGE. Still working on fundraising I am now at 10% of my goal! YEA!!!! I still have a long journey ahead of me but know that with everyone's love & prayers I can make it through it!! I am excited! Thank you!

Friday, September 11, 2009

Day 19, 20

I hope everyone has taken a few minutes to reflect on all the wonderful blessing they have in life. Today marks the 8 year anniversary of 9/11. It is a day I will never forget. It ties into everything that I am doing. I am soooo grateful for what I have in my life & my strong legs that will get me through to the finish line. Today is a time to be thankful. I am thankful not only for my family & friends but also for my healthy body. God has given me a gift to be strong & fight for a really good cause. It is the least I can do!

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Day 16, 17, 18

Selfish me I have taken 3 days off from blogging & working out. Now the people affected by cancer don't get to take a dayoff so I am feeling bad about the days I took off. BUT can't dwell on it so I did have a great day. I met w/ Kari and got some GREAT ideas for fundraising and got out there & ran an easy 2.5 miles. I could have went further but it got dark fast! Need to go at 7:30 for now on.
Sooooo this is my thoughts for a fundraiser. MOVIE NIGHT at my house in the cul-de-sac showing on the garage!!!!! I am not sure how much to charge & if I should have popcorn & water included??? hmmmmmm I will work it all out.

Sunday, September 6, 2009

Day 15

Not much going on here w/ the training or fundraising. Enjoying the cooler weather & the time w/ the family. I will hit it hard this week.

Saturday, September 5, 2009

Day 14

Well did not get up w/ my alarm today for my 4 mile run. UGH guess I needed the sleep. Will run tomorrow on my dayoff. That is okay. I have a fundraiser clinic this week so I am very excited about that. It will give me some ideas to raise some more money!

Friday, September 4, 2009

Day 13

I had a good workout today. My one the trainer gave me & I was able to do it from home! ;) Boy oh Boy those squats & lunges OUCH!!!! But it will be worth it because I will become a stronger runner. I went to the injury prevention clinic. Really good info. I learned that you should warm up first and then stop & stretch. You never want to stretch cold muscles cause it would be like putting a rubber band in the freezer taking it out & stretching it. It would break, that is how are muscles & tendons react. Interesting. He also stressed the importance of stretching after a run. I admit I get lazy & am glad I did the run & just sit on the ground or come in & shower. He said you must stretch those muscles out that will help w/ the aches & pains. So, besides watching my ankle roll, my goal this week is really to stretch during & after a run & keep an eye on the ankle.

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

Day 12

What a great run I had this morning. Boy was I hurting from my correct squats & lunges but I pushed threw it. I wanted to stop cause it hurt but I looked down at my band & knew I couldn't. I am running for a cause & the ones suffering can not stop because they are tired. So I pushed threw the pain & had a great run. I am excited tomorrow is our Injury Prevention class. I have a feeling I will get a TON out of that one! :)

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Day 11

What an amazing day it was today. Everyday I wake up & feel so blessed with all I have. I get ready & then put on my T.E.A.M. bracelet & remember Dave & all the others out there suffering from this horrible disease. I thank God for giving me this chance to make a difference. It might be too late for Dave but I know what I am doing he would be proud of me that I am helping someone else. Someday in the near future there will be a cure for cancer & it will be worth everything we have been doing. Being apart of this Team In Training has truly been life changing. You might think it is funny me being only in it 11 days but it is true. I am surprised & sad how many people out there are affect by someway w/ blood cancer. That is why I am doing this. That is why I am hitting that pavement. That is why I am raising money. To help those people & the families.
I met w/ a trainer today at the Rec Center & he was great. I discovered that I roll my ankle when I squat, do lunges & run which can lead to major injury (just ask Mikayla) ! He showed me different exercises to strengthen my ankle. It was a great learning experience. I am excited to put the new ankle workouts into effect! I did also get some great strength training from him that will help me be a better runner. I meet w/ him again in 2 weeks! Thanks Perry!

Monday, August 31, 2009

Day 10

Wow 10 days already. I hit over $400 mark today on donations! YEA I am excited about that!!!!! I am soooo getting there & that is just from my emails I sent out. Thank you everyone who has donated so far. I have some fun ideas for fundraisers so I am working on those. 1/2 my letters are sealed will get them all out this week. What a great feeling. I think I am mailing out 165 letters!!!!! Next step will be the business letters & then hitting the pavement to go face to face to businesses! :)
Ran a nice 5 mile run tonight w/ my running group it was great I feel amazing. This is the 1st time I felt this good after 5 miles. Yea!!!! Only 21.2 more miles to go! hahhahahaahahhhaahha

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Today was my active rest day so didn't do much did take the kids to the school to play (1 mile walk) so that was about it but you can count the bending while I was on the floor folding letters! :)

Saturday, August 29, 2009

Day 8

Today was my 1st official training day w/ TNT it was great. We learned about road safety & then worked on our form. We ran for 3 miles (40 minutes) it was great. There are 5 of us in the Nampa training group for the Winter Session. My friend Kyleigh (who is doing this amazing adventure with me) is training in Boise and she said they have 20. My coach was saying that we will combine a few sessions when we start the longer runs. Ann (my coach) has done several marathons and said that the 1st time she ran the entire thing & came in at 5hrs and like 20mins the next one she did the 8-2 (run for 8 minutes walk for 2) and she got in at 5 hrs and then for her next one she did 9-1 and she was 4 hours 30 min. WOW she said it was good since she kept up her pace and by mile 20 she was like I can do this run for 9 minutes and then get to walk. It is a total mind thing. I am going to try the 9-1 concept. Ann did say that if I am going to do it to start training that way now. So this week I will try it & see how far I get! I am excited about that. I can run for 9 minutes oh yea!!!! I can't wait for the next session. We have an injury prevention clinic coming this week & I am excited about that. Ann did show me some stretches for my hip and then in the clinic she told me to ask about my hip.
I did get another donation today! OH YEA I am almost over $300 yea in the 1st week!!!! I got a make shift office setup. I was tired of having everything all over my counter. It is nice. Mikayla made me a sign to reach my goal. I got all my letters copied and will continue to work on my envelopes and then get them in the mail by next week. I am on a roll. I am also brainstorming some fundraising ideas. So if ya have any ideas just say the word! :)

Friday, August 28, 2009

Day 7

7 days in already it is crazy!!! The time is gonna fly by! Today was my rest day and I so enjoyed it. I did get alot done tho. I started addressing the envelopes and finished letter #1. I have 2 more letters to write & then get them to the printers!!! I am excited. I have a couple things I want to put in the envelopes as well. My goal is to get the 1st set mailed out by Friday next week. Mikayla made me this AMAZING sign I will post it when I upload the pictures. It will help me keep track of my progress on my march to $4500 oh yea!!!!! I am off to a great start and I am excited for each day.

Thursday, August 27, 2009

Day 6

What an amazing day this has been!!!!! Started the day with a good 3 mile run. Getting further w/o stopping yea only 23.2 more miles to go! YEA. Then I went & got all my supplies that I need to get my letters finished & printed out. Me being me, I got a nice carry file system I can organize w/ all my TNT info to keep it handy in order. I also got another donation today thanks Kami I so appreciate it I am almost at the $300 mark in week 1 YEA!!! LOVE IT!
Run went well. I am still having that pain in the hip but pushed thru it & did a great stretch afterwards. It wasn't too bad tonight at bootcamp. I felt it the most on the sprints so hmmmm gotta figure that one out. Tomorrow is my rest day for training! My husband commented that all I do now is workout. hahahhahhhaa I was like yup I have a 26.2 mile hurdle to get thru and I will do all the training I need to do! I have been following the Intermediate training for this week. I think I will do the same for next week & then kick it into high gear and do the advance training plan.
My good friend Jennifer recieved an email today & she found out her dad's cousin has been diagnosed with type B lymphoma, non-hodgegens, bone only. Jennifer sent me the email. So I want to add Terry's name to my list of people I am running for. My prayers go out to Terry & his family. This email today made me realize how important what I am doing is. We need to find a cure for this way too many people are affected by it everyday. So this will help me push even harder.

Day 5

Well today was my cross training day & I hit the weight room. Why oh why do I feel so silly in there at 6:30 at night?? But I did stay & did 45 minutes of legs & arms. Of course I did a 1 mile run & had my best time 8:45 oh yea!! Now just 25 more miles at that & I will make my 5 hour time in January!!! :) Tonight I am feeling it. My left hip is killing me. Not sure if it is the sprints from yesterday or the other workouts hmmmm. I can't wait for Saturday cause I will ask my coach about. It is great to have a mentor & a coach behind me.

My letter is just about done just waiting for a few things and then I will go get them printed off & I plan on having them out by the 1st week of September. I am excited still. I thought my excitement would start to die down a bit but OH NO it is all I think about. Where to get sponsors- training oh yea that is my life right now & I am LOVING it!!!!!!!! :)

Day 4

What a day not only was it 1st day of school but I helped out in school also so I had limited time BUT I did get out there cause my training schedule told me to! :) I ran 2.4 miles it was smack in the middle of the day. Not a good idea. While I was running in 90 degree weather I was thinking is this how Arizona will feel??? Is it that hot that time of year?????? hahahahahaha I did also do bootcamp w/ lots of sprints & a cool down of a brisk 1 mile walk so it was a very busy & productive day. I am continuing to get in donations which I am thrilled about THANK YOU everyone who has donated so far!!!! I still have a long journey ahead of me but I am excited & scared at the same time for it. I am working on getting a picture of David to post so I can see him everytime I log on to the blog & know that I have to keep going. I am doing this for his memory & for others like him. So if you haven't donated yet please see my link at the top left corner. We need to beat this horrible cancer!

Day 2

Today is the day I did an outline of my fundraiser. It is a short outline but it is a map to what I need to do. I have to work on it a bit more but will have it all done by tomorrow. I am the type of person that needs a plan. I am huge on calendars so putting dates on when I need to get things done is key for me! I am waiting for the link from the main office so I can start getting to my goal & you can see the $$$ move on the blog! YEA!!!!!! I am still full of excitement!
I start my official training tomorrow. The TEAM is offering a free Shoe fit Clinic so I will be prepared for my tootsies! :) After the fitting I will zoom back to Nampa to meet up w/ my Women's running group & hope to get in at least 3 miles.

Day 1

Today I have started an exciting journey! My wonderful mother thought I should blog my progress in the journey! Thanks mom.
I just went to the kickoff party & signed on with Team In Training. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Their mission statement is: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the largest voluntary health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and Hodgkin's Disease and improving the quality of life for patients and their families. This society has raised more than $550 million to research. They have 66 chapters across the United States and Canada. I am apart of the Idaho/Montana Chapter.
I am training to run a marathon (26.2 miles) in January at the P.F. Chang's Rock n Roll Marathon in Phoenix Arizona. This a HUGE for me. I started running about 2 years ago and have enjoyed the fun runs and have done a few 1/2 marathons so this is a big step for me. But now that I am running for a purpose to help fight the battle of cancer, I know I can tackle & complete the marathon. I had a dear friend that lost his battle w/ Hodkin's disease at age 21.
I will be running in memory of David Hagar.

I hope you enjoy this blog on my 4 1/2 month journey. I ask for your prayers and donations.
Feel free to give me feedback or if you know anyone who is affected w/ blood cancer I would love to add them to my page. This will help me make it through the 26 miles knowing that I am running for a much need cause. Cure for Cancer.
